Médias juifs anti-juifs? La chaîne NBC révèle qu'un Israélien sur deux souhaiterait qu'une lettre contenant le virus Ebola soit envoyée au président Obama pour son anniversaire

NBC - Send President Obama Ebola as Birthday Gift, Some Israelis Say

5 August, 2014
Almost half of Israelis who voted in an online survey said they wanted to give Barack Obama an envelope containing the Ebola virus as a present for his 53rd birthday. The poll by Israel’s popular news and entertainment site Mako follows rare criticism from Washington over the high civilian death toll in Gaza. While unscientific and not necessarily representative of Israeli views, by early Tuesday more than 2,000 people had weighed in on the hypothetical question, a spokesman for the site told NBC News early Tuesday. The top choice - at 46 percent - was to give Obama the deadly virus that has killed almost 900 people in West Africa. Other less popular choices included "peace in the middle east" and "golf clubs."

On Monday, which was Obama’s birthday, the president signed a bill approving $225 million of U.S. funding for Israel’s Iron Dome missile defense system. The White House has been keen to downplay suggestions of a growing rift after the U.S. said strikes on schools in Gaza were "horrifying" and "disgraceful." Those comments came in the wake of reports that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned Obama "not to ever second-guess me again" after peace talks with Hamas broke down.

Happy Birthday Mr. President!
Israelis: Send Obama Ebola
by BEN NORTON

According to an August 2014 poll, half of Israelis want to send Obama Ebola for only supporting Israeli terrorism 95, not 100%.

In the wake of Israel’s summer 2014 genocidal massacre in Gaza, euphemistically called Operation “Protective” Edge,” the US corporate media is finally (somewhat) catching on to the egregious degree of violent extremism, racism, and downright fascism in Israeli culture.

A 5 August NBC story, titled “Send President Obama Ebola as Birthday Gift, Some Israelis Say,” reports that, according to a recent poll, 46% of Israelis “said they wanted to give Barack Obama an envelope containing the Ebola virus as a present for his 53rd birthday.”

Note, these aren’t just “some” Israelis, as NBC writes; these are almost half of Israelis.

Vox also ran a story, published on 4 August, when 48% of polled Israelis had advocated sending Ebola. (10% more wanted to send Obama a song based on Prime Minister Netanyahu telling Obama to “never second guess me again.” Never second guess the supreme leader of your totalitarian apartheid ethnostate. Does anyone else smell fascism?)

This is the absurd degree of vehement jingoism in Israeli popular culture today. Almost half of Israelis want to send Obama—the president of the country that gives them $3.1 billion in unconditional aid per year, bankrolling their colonization, dispossession, and genocide of the Palestinian people—a deadly disease as a birthday surprise.

NBC reports that over 2,000 Israelis voted in the online survey. “Other less popular choices,” it explains, “included ‘peace in the middle east’ and ‘golf clubs.’” Peace has always been a low priority in Israel. Settler colonialism, occupation, and ethnic cleansing tend to much much, much higher on the list.

It should be mentioned that this survey is not scholarly and statistically rigorous and cannot be meant to be an exact representation of the Israeli population as a whole. Regardless of the precise figure, nonetheless, Mako (the site on which the poll was conducted) is very popular, and it is telling indeed that 46-48% of those who frequent this popular website want to murder the president of the country that gives them billions upon billions in aid.

The NBC story (correctly) calls Obama’s moment of vocal opposition to Israeli crimes “rare criticism from Washington over the high civilian death toll in Gaza.” For the 50 days that Israel was slaughtering children in Gaza, purposefully targeting civilians and civilian infrastructure, including hospitals, schools, places of worship, and families’ homes, Obama continuously insisted that Israel supposedly had the “right to defend itself“—even though, as international law scholar Noura Erakat pointed out, “No, Israel Does Not Have the Right to Self-Defense In International Law Against Occupied Palestinian Territory.”

Erakat writes
Israel’s ability to frame its assault against territory it occupies as a right of self-defense turns international law on its head.
A state cannot simultaneously exercise control over territory it occupies and militarily attack that territory on the claim that it is “foreign” and poses an exogenous national security threat. In doing precisely that, Israel is asserting rights that may be consistent with colonial domination but simply do not exist under international law.
She continued, eloquently explaining in the Nation:
The precarious and unstable conditions in the Gaza Strip from which Palestinians suffer are Israel’s responsibility. Israel argues that it can invoke the right to self-defense under international law as defined in Article 51 of the UN Charter. The International Court of Justice, however, rejected this faulty legal interpretation in its 2004 Advisory Opinion. The ICJ explained that an armed attack that would trigger Article 51 must be attributable to a sovereign state, but the armed attacks by Palestinians emerge from within Israel’s jurisdictional control. Israel does have the right to defend itself against rocket attacks, but it must do so in accordance with occupation law and not other laws of war. Occupation law ensures greater protection for the civilian population. The other laws of war balance military advantage and civilian suffering. The statement that “no country would tolerate rocket fire from a neighboring country” is therefore both a diversion and baseless.
Israel denies Palestinians the right to govern and protect themselves, while simultaneously invoking the right to self-defense. This is a conundrum and a violation of international law, one that Israel deliberately created to evade accountability.
Obama was one of the largest purveyors of this grotesque, farcical lie. After several weeks of reiterating ad nauseam the myth that Israel has the legal (yet alone moral) “right” to “defend” itself—as Israel brutally bombed Palestinian civilians into oblivion and dead Gazan babies were kept in ice cream freezers because medical supplies had run out and morgues were overflowing—the Obama administration finally took international community’s hint and reached for a better looking PR move. It was only in the final throes of Israel’s genocide in Gaza that Obama tepidly said, “Hey guys, maybe you should bring it back a little bit. This doesn’t look good.”

Obama’s support wasn’t just rhetorical, however. NBC hints at the irony of this Ebola birthday gift poll, noting that, on his own birthday, Obama gave a generous and hefty gift to Israel: $225 million of additional US citizens’ taxdollars to be used on its Iron Dome missile defense system.

“The White House has been keen to downplay suggestions of a growing rift,” NBC observes. After all, Obama has made it a common practice to emphasize the US’s “unshakable” “commitment to Israel and Israel’s security,” its “strongest ally and greatest friend.”

The US did, after a month of destruction, finally muster up the courage to call Israeli strikes on Gaza schools “horrifying” and “disgraceful” (they forgot to add “in complete and flagrant violation of international law“—but the US has never really cared about international law in the first place, so perhaps we shouldn’t be surprised) yet muffled its already infrequent and quiet moments of hesitation when Netanyahu warned Obama “not to ever second-guess me again.”

In spite of the US president’s almost indefatigable (“almost” being the operative word, in this case) support, most Israelis are livid that Obama is only 95, not 100% behind their project of systemic settler colonialism and ethnic cleansing. As the Vox story points out, a 2013 poll found that “only 10% of Israelis view Obama favorably,” and a 2014 poll concluded that 70% of Jewish Israelis do not trust Obama. Many cite president’s subdued criticism of the expansion of illegal Israeli settlements as the reason behind this growing antipathy, but Obama’s rhetoric is empty at best.

An important distinction should be made here. These studies should not be taken as a demonization of all Israelis. As in the US, there are indeed in Israel anti-racist, anti-fascist, anti-Zionist leftists, who seek peace with the indigenous Palestinians (and with African immigrants), and wish to end their fascist, settler colonialist ethnoreligious supremacist state’s policies of genocide, ethnic cleansing, and occupation. These leftists, in fact, are enormously brave—surely braver than most of us in the US. Here in ‘murica, we may be denigrated, ridiculed, yelled at on the street; we may be fired from our jobs. In Israel, on the other hand, fascist mobs roam the streets chanting “Death to leftists!” and “Gas the leftists!” (along with “Death to Arabs!” and “Gas the Arabs!”, of course). If you are an anti-racist, anti-Zionist Israeli—or an anti-Zionist Orthodox Jew—you go to demonstrations well aware of the fact that fascist mobs will attack you, with complete impunity, police watching and cheering—or, in some cases, even beating you themselves. I could hardly respect Israeli leftists more.

Yet the vast majority of Israelis support their ethnocracy‘s crimes. The vast majority. In regards to Israel’s most recent slaughter in Gaza, that number is 95%, to be exact. This is about as close to a national consensus as you ever get.

In 2012, in Haaretz, renowned journalist Gideon Levy published the results of a poll that found “Most Israeli Jews Would Support Apartheid Regime in Israel.” This study, “expos[ing] anti-Arab, ultra-nationalist views espoused by a majority of Israeli Jews,” was not based on an internet survey. It was conducted by Dialog and directed by professor Camil Fuchs, Haaretz’s polling expert and head of the Department of Statistics at Tel Aviv University’s School of Mathematical Science, and commissioned by the Yisraela Goldblum Fund.

The study revealed the following unsavory facts about Israeli society:

– 59% want preference for Jews over Arabs in admission to jobs in government ministries.

– 49% want the state to treat Jewish citizens better than Arab ones

– 42% don’t want to live in the same building with Arabs

– 42% don’t want their children in the same class with Arab children.

– c. 33% want a law barring Israeli Arabs from voting for the Knesset

– 69% object to giving 2.5 million Palestinians the right to vote if Israel annexes the West Bank.

– 74% majority are in favor of separate roads for Israelis and Palestinians

– 24% believe separate roads are “a good situation”

– 50% believe separate roads are “a necessary situation”

– 47% want part of Israel’s Arab population to be transferred to the Palestinian Authority

– 36% support transferring some of the Arab towns from Israel to the PA, in exchange for keeping some of the West Bank settlements

– 38% want Israel to annex the territories with settlements on them

– 31% don’t admit that Israel practices apartheid against Arabs

– 58% do admit that Israel practices apartheid against Arabs (READ THE REST...)

'Ebola' voted by Israeli readers as 'best birthday present' for Obama

Readers of the prominent Israeli news site Mako have overwhelmingly voted in favor of sending President Barack Obama an envelope containing the Ebola virus for his birthday.

The site, which belongs to the Channel 2 company “Keshet” (the most widely watch broadcasting network in Israel) began the survey at noon on Sunday, asking readers what they would like to give the president for his 53rd birthday. The options were as follows (scores in brackets, screenshot below):

A) Peace in the Middle East (22%)

B) Golf clubs (11%)

C) A box set of Israeli television series Prisoners of War (9%)

D) A remix by Noi Alush (local video artist) of Netanyahu’s now-famous “Don’t ever second guess me again” line (10%)

E) An envelope with the Ebola virus (48%)

The results did not cause Mako to reconsider the list of options, nor remove the survey altogether. At the time of writing (Monday night, 11 p.m.) it is still up.

The Israeli watchdog site Walla-Branja wrote on Monday that only a month ago did Mako declare it would enact a new policy of filtering hate speech in its comments section, specifically targeting calls for incitement to violence or death following the murder of Muhammad Abu Khdeir.

Israeli TV Poll, What to Give Barack Obama for His Birthday? 48% Say: Ebola

by Richard Silverstein on August 4, 2014

What to give Obama on his birthday? Ebola

Israel’s Channel 2 is the country’s most popular TV station. Its website, Mako, published the results of a poll asking what listeners wanted to get Pres. Obama for his 53rd birthday tomorrow. 20% wanted to give him “peace in the Middle East.” Nice. 10% wanted to give him the Noy Aloosh remix of “Don’t Second Guess Me Ever Again.” Cheeky, but funny. 11% said: golf clubs. You know your man. And the winner, with 48% was: “an envelope containing Ebola virus.” Say what?

I could understand if this was Hustler Magazine or even the Daily Mail, known for trash journalism. But the country’s most popular TV channel?! Even if we chalk this up to a bad case of media stupidity, and assume that those who responded to the poll wanted to be in on the joke, doesn’t this tell us quite a bit about the Israeli political environment? The leader of Israel’s only real ally in the world is despised so much that Israelis would like to see him dead.

There’s an added subtle bit of racism in the fact that Islamophobes and the Israeli and American far right believe Obama is a Muslim born of a Kenyan father. Wishing him a fatal illness that originated in Africa and is ravaging parts of the continent right now seems a conscious or unconscious racist allusion to his origins.

FORWARD-Why Benjamin Netanyahu Is Wrong To Cite ‘American Values’ in Jerusalem Feud Premier's Not Being Racist — Just Blind to the World

HAARETZ - Video - Netanyahu’s 'un-American' stink bomb begs the question: What was he thinking?
White House fumes at PM’s 'American values' statement that echoes malicious rhetoric of birthers and other crazy Obama-haters.
By Chemi Shalev | Oct. 7, 2014 | 12:30 AM
You want to give Benjamin Netanyahu the benefit of the doubt. You prefer to assume that he knew not what he was doing, that he fell in love with his own wisecrack, as he is wont to do, and simply didn’t think things through. You want to believe that we have not reached the stage when the Israeli prime minister would wantonly detonate a stink bomb in an American president’s face, as if he couldn’t care less.
Nonetheless, you have to wonder. You can say a lot of things about Netanyahu: Stupid isn’t one of them. So how could have gone down the route of declaring White House criticism of his government’s moves in East Jerusalem “un-American”? How could he have ignored the multiple numerous alarm bells and whistles that should have warned him to think twice and even thrice before taking this road? How could he have exposed himself to the kind of withering reaction issued by the White House yesterday, summed it up in one loaded little word: “odd.”
In other words - what was he thinking?
It’s not only Netanyahu’s presumptuousness in appointing himself the arbiter of what “reflects American values” and what doesn’t. Just try to imagine the mortified mayhem that would break out if Obama had retorted that construction in East Jerusalem that could kill off the moribund peace process is “un-Jewish” or “un-Israeli” or runs to contrary to “Jewish values.” Israeli politicians would hit the roof, American Jewish leaders would plotz all over the place and Fox News would stop its regular programming in order to foam at the mouth and run John Bolton’s inevitable call for the president’s impeachment in an endless loop.
And it’s not only that anyone with a rudimentary knowledge of modern U.S. politics – or access to Google - would know that “un-American” is a concept uniquely associated in the American psyche with Senator Joseph McCarthy’s House Committee on un-American Activities (HUAC). That anyone trying to impugn a White House for “not reflecting American values” immediately aligns himself with the worst political muckrakers in American history. That the instinctive response to such an accusation is the immortal one hurled at McCarthy by U.S. Army counsel Joseph Nye Welch on June 9, 1954: “Have you no sense of decency, sir? At long last, have you left no sense of decency?”
And we still haven’t gotten to the worst of it: How Obama is the one American president that no foreign leader should ever dare describe as “un-American.” That this is the malicious refrain of the cuckoo birthers and other crazy Obama-haters: That he was born in Kenya, and even if he wasn’t, that he is somehow alien, foreign, “un-American.” And that by stooping to such reprehensible rhetoric, Netanyahu may have burned whatever crumbling beams remained of his bridges, not only with the White House but with its senior staff as well.
And if you need to connect the dots, as they most certainly will in the president’s closest, most protective and possibly most paranoid surroundings, this the way it will go: That it is no coincidence that Netanyahu used the “un-American” analogy after hobnobbing so brazenly with Sheldon Adelson, arguably public enemy number one of the president’s Democratic Party. That this is the kind of crap, excuse me, that people who admire Adelson are wont to utter, when they think no one else is listening.
But Netanyahu was so oblivious that he didn’t keep his thoughts to himself or even to his closest surroundings. He felt the need to hit back for what may have indeed been a U.S. overreaction. First he told the Israeli media and then he repeated the odious comment for each and every Sunday morning talk show to hear. He didn’t mention Obama by name, but he nonetheless slammed the president as if he was a Tea Party brawler rather than the leader of a country with a “special relationship” with America.
Never mind that the claim itself is thoroughly ludicrous. Building in East Jerusalem or the occupation of Silwan apartments by fanatic settlers is a matter of “property rights”? Really? It has nothing to do with Israel’s stated objection of claiming Jerusalem all to itself and heading off any effort to divide it? How disingenuous can you get, without people bursting out in laughter?
The same kind of laughter that was heard in Washington when Netanyahu described his relations with Obama as those between “a couple.” A mutually homicidal couple, perhaps, like Michael Douglas and Kathleen Turner in the 1989 black comedy War of the Roses, one veteran observer told me. And even if they were like a couple, he added, then Obama is in court right now, asking for a permanent restraining order.
Of course, relations between the two countries are still good, even great, at most official levels, though the dysfunction at the top cannot but radiate negatively to the lower echelons. You might think, as Netanyahu perhaps believes, that this is as good as it gets, given the substantive disagreements between the two countries. You might believe, as Netanyahu perhaps does, that Obama may soon turn into a lame duck anyway, if the Republicans take the Senate in the November elections.
Still, you have to wonder: Israel and the U.S. are fast approaching a watershed moment which would test their relations even if their two leaders were getting along famously. If Washington and Tehran reach a nuclear agreement, it will take Herculean efforts to avoid a real rupture between the two governments. In light of the overriding importance that Netanyahu ascribes to preventing a nuclear Iran, you have to ask yourself how he could find it appropriate, at this critical juncture, to score such cheap points at the American president’s expense.
Perhaps, as I’ve written before, the right answer can be found in the famous fable about the scorpion that stings the frog that is carrying him across the river, drowning them both. Asked why he would do such a thing, he replied: “It’s in my nature.”

Pro-Israel or Pro-Obama?
September 11, 2011 By

We love this commercial showcasing Barack Obama’s ability to unite democrats and republicans, Jews and supporters, in their pro-Israel beliefs.
Republican Bob Turner, Democrat David Weprin, Senator Joe Lieberman and Mayor Ed Koch all agree, President Obama is not pro Israel.
You mean his “John McCain has not talked about my Muslim faith..” quote or this video didn’t tell you that?
The Emergency Committee for Israel paid for, and authorized the content of the ad.
We agree, unless you’re Jerusalem, Obama is only a uniter, not a divider.
